PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cast iron material which can reduce the mass effect without causing aggravation of the machinability and the castability. SOLUTION: This cast iron material comprises containing 3.2-3.6 wt.% carbon and 1.7-2.4 wt.% silicon, having a CE value set to 3.8-3.95, and further containing 0.2-0.5 wt.% chromium, 0.3-0.5 wt.% copper, and 0.2-0.4 wt.% molybdenum. Thereby, the cast iron material with a small mass effect is obtained without causing the aggravation of the machinability and the castability. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
