PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-fusing coating which does evaporate a phenolic organic solvent such as cresol, when coated on the outer periphery of an enameled wire and then baked, and never leaves the phenolic organic solvent also in the insulating coating film of the self-fusing insulated electric wire obtained by baking the applied coating, and to provide the self-fusing insulated electric wire. SOLUTION: This self-fusing coating is characterized in that the fusing resin is dissolved in organic solvents consisting mainly of benzyl alcohol, and the self-fusing insulated electric wire obtained by using the coating.
