<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To install double seal structure while assuring operation of a pad abrasion follow-up mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: In an electric disc brake, rotation of a motor 16 is converted by a ball ramp mechanism 17 into a linear motion to be transmitted to a piston 15, a brake pad 4 is pressed onto a disc rotor to generate braking force, and the pad abrasion follow-up mechanism 19 for spirally advancing the piston 15 with respect to a linear moving member 36 depending on abrasion of the brake pad 4 is provided. The spiral advance with respect to the linear moving member 36 of the piston 15 is assured to the length of a female screw 40 on the linear moving member side, a male screw 41 on a piston 15 side is set to the length required for strength reasons, a seal member 65 held by a holding member 60 fixed to a caliper body 14 is slid on and is brought into contact with a smooth cylindrical face 42 secured in a shaft member 21 of the piston 15, and the seal member 65 and a dust boot 66 disposed to a large-diameter body 20 of the piston 15 implement double seal in a caliper body 14. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
