PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite chilled roll for hot rolling, which not only utilizes the characteristics of the high-alloy chilled cast-iron roll, but also has greatly improved abrasion resistance. SOLUTION: The composite chilled roll for hot rolling has an outer layer part of the roll, of which the composing material comprises, by wt.%, 3.2-3.7% C, 0.3-0.6% Si, 0.5-1.2% Mn, 1.1-2.3% Ni, 0.3-1.2% Cr, and one or more of W, V, Nb so as to be 0.5-3.0% for W+V+Nb, and the balance substantially Fe.
