PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase efficiency by eliminating wasteful switching from a pressure-resistant chamber on one side to a pressure-resistant chamber on the other side for a double type vacuum packaging machine which alternately vacuumizes the inside of two units of the pressure-resistant chambers by one unit of a vacuum pump. SOLUTION: When a pressure-resistant lid 11 on one side is placed on the upper surface of a surface plate 10, a limit switch 50 which is fixed to the lid is closed by the resistance of the surface plate 10, and the vacuum pump 20 performs air-suction in the pressure-resistant lid 11 at the same time with the counting of a timer 34. Since a set time for the first timer 34 is 10 seconds, during that period, another packaging bag 25 is loaded under a pressure-resistant lid 12 on the other side, and the pressure-resistant lid 12 is placed. When a main opening/closing valve 31 is closed due to the completion of the set time of the first timer 34, a second main opening/closing valve 32 is simultaneously opened, and vacuumization in a second pressureresistant lid 12 is started.
