The object is to provide an airbag device in which a forwardly-protruded length of an expanded airbag is limited by a strap, and in which when a lower portion of the expanded airbag receives an abdominal vicinity of an occupant, an upper portion of the airbag is more expanded toward the occupant to receive the head portion of the occupant. A front panel (10a) and a rear panel (10b) of an airbag (10) are connected to each other by a strap (11). Both ends of the strap (11) are connected to the rear panel (10b) and an intermediate portion thereof passes through an opening (17) of each of the strap inserting members (18A) and (18B) provided in the upper portion and the lower portion of the front panel (10a). After the airbag (10) is unfolded, when an occupant comes in contact with the lower portion of the front panel (10a), the lower portion of the front panel (10a) retreats and the restriction on the upper portion of the front panel (10a) by the strap (11) is relieved such that the upper portion of the front panel (10a) is more expanded forwardly. <IMAGE>
