<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress wear of a radial lip of a seal ring and a rotary shaft by reducing a maximum contact surface pressure of the radial lip, in a sealing device combining a seal ring and a backup ring. <P>SOLUTION: The seal ring 4 is so designed that a radially inner side of an annular body part is covered in the radial lip 8 with a conical surface 81 brought in surface contact of a given width with an outer circumference of a rotary shaft 2. The conical surface 81 of the radial lip 8 has, on a root side of a minimum diameter portion 81a, a ringed projection 83 for dispersing pressure on the minimum diameter portion 81a. The contact pressure of the radial lip 8 against the rotary shaft 2 is dispersed to the minimum diameter portion 81a and ringed protrusion 83 of the conical surface 81. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
