摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical device capable of making the flat plate thin by improving the composition of an illumination system and to provide an electronic appliance using the same. <P>SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal device 1, a light source 22 such as LED is disposed on a position confronted with the side edge surface of a counter substrate 7b, and a conductor film 4 and an optical reflection layer 41 are located in this order so as to oppose the outer surface side of the counter substrate 7b. Therefore, light can be supplied into the liquid crystal panel 2 without using a thick light transmission plate. The light emitted from the light source 22 is guided to inner surfaces (reflection surfaces) of upper plate part 811 and lower plate part 812 of an optical path regulating member 81 and is efficiently made incident to the counter substrate 7b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
