<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light scattering type liquid crystal display element which is useful as a liquid crystal display element for an advertisement board, a decorative display board, a watch, a computer, a projection device, digital paper, a portable information terminal, an optical shutter and so on and attains whiteness of display comparable to that of paper. <P>SOLUTION: In the light scattering type liquid crystal display element which comprises transparent substrates 1, 2 each having a transparent electrode layer on a surface, placed so as to make the surfaces with the electrode layers be opposite to each other and has a dimmer layer consisting of a liquid crystal material and a polymer matrix held between the electrode layers, transmittance of the transparent substrate 1 having the transparent electrode layer on the one side in 430-700 nm wavelength range is 94-104% when transmittance at 550 nm is taken as 100%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
