PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display prevented from being deteriorated in image quality caused by the signal voltage of the preceding picture. SOLUTION: A third transistor TR3 for erasing an image is arranged for each pixel, and the gate is connected to the reset signal line R, the source is connected to the pixel electrode 4 of the liquid crystal cell LC, and the drain is connected to the wiring for erasure E, respectively. Before the following image is written to the liquid crystal cell LC from the charge storage capacitor C, the signal voltage of the preceding image being held in the liquid crystal cell LC is discharged (erased) through the wiring for erasure E. When a display image is changed over, a correct signal voltage corresponding to a new image can be applied to the liquid crystal cell LC, therefore, the gradations are correctly displayed, and also an image persistence phenomenon is not caused by a driving voltage shift, therefore, deterioration of image quality can be prevented.
