PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a displacement control type scroll type compressor wherein a displacement control is surely performed by efficiently performing a bypass flow from a scroll type compression mechanism to a low pressure chamber, and controlling method therefor. SOLUTION: A displacement control part is provided with a lead valve 201a and displacement control chambers 201b. The displacement control part is further provided with: a first pipe 202 for guiding fluid pressure within a high pressure chamber HP to each of the displacement control chamber 201b after deriving the fluid pressure to the outside of a housing 101; a second pipe 203 for guiding the fluid pressure within each of the displacement control chambers 201b to the low pressure chamber LP after deriving the fluid pressure to the outside of the housing 101; and solenoid valves 202a and 203a which are arranged at the outside of the housing 101, close either one of the first pipe 202 and the second pipe 203 and open the other.
