PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a laminated coating film which is enhanced in water resistance and humidity resistance and has an excellent appearance when a base coating and a high-solid clear coating are applied by the two-coat one-bake coating method. SOLUTION: In the method for forming a coating film by applying a base coating and a high solid clear coating successively by the wet-on-wet coating technique using an electrostatic coating machine, the clear coating comprises a hydroxyl group-containing acrylic resin having a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of 2,000-7,000 and a solubility parameter (SP value) by the turbidity method of more than 9.7 and not more than 11.0, a melamine resin having a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of 400-4,000 and an SP value of more than 9.7 and not more than 10.5 and a vinylic or acrylic surface conditioning agent having a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of 7,000-350,000 and an SP value of at least 9.0 and at most 9.7.
