PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily draw out a document already read in a document conveying device without extending the interval of the document. SOLUTION: This image reader 34 is provided with an upstream side conveying roller pair having a driving roller 7b feeding a document to contact type image sensors 8, 9 reading the document and a driven roller 7c driven and rotated by the driving roller, a downstream side conveying roller pair having a driving roller 12b taking out the document from the contact type image sensors and a driven roller 12c driven and rotated by the driving roller, and a one-way clutch 30 provided between a document conveying motor 18 rotating the driving roller of the downstream side conveying roller pair 12 and the driving roller 12b, transmitting the torque of the document conveying in the document conveying direction to the driving roller, and allowing the driving roller rotating by the torque when the torque in the document conveying direction is applied to the driving roller.
