<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide excellent image quality by setting a fixing condition which is obtained by synthesizing each element for determining image quality when an image is formed, and also to shorten a printing waiting time. <P>SOLUTION: A heating roller 1 and a pressure roller 2 being fixing rollers are mutually brought into pressure contact so as to be freely rotatable, a sheet P with non-fixing toner t<SB>0</SB>transferred thereon is held between the rollers, and pressurizing and heating are performed for fixing. In this case, after temperature on the front surface of the heating roller 1 detected by a temperature sensor 6 becomes higher than the fusing point of the non-fixing toner t<SB>0</SB>, the rotary speed control means of a CPU 8 controls and changes the rotary speed of the fixing rollers in response to the temperature on the front surface of the heating roller 1, in order to give a prescribed quantity of heat necessary for fixing the non-fixing toner t<SB>0</SB>, so that a fixing operation is performed. Moreover, the rotary speed control means controls and changes the rotary speed in response to each of the width of a nip and the largeness of a pressure force in the pressure contact part of the fixing rollers, the degree of the fusing point of the non-fixing toner t<SB>0</SB>, ambient temperature and/or ambient barometric pressure in a place where the apparatus is installed, the thickness of the sheet P, and a glossiness on the front surface of the sheet P. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
