PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combination oil ring to seal the ring groove side faces of a piston, capable of keeping a good followup performance to the cylinder bore and reducing the oil consumption. SOLUTION: The combination oil ring 4 is composed of an upper 5 and a lower side rail 6 and a spacer expander 7 to put the side rails 5 and 6 in pressure contact to the wall surface of a cylinder 2 and in pressure contact with the side faces 3a and 3b of an oil ring groove 3 in the piston 1, wherein those parts of the side rails 5 and 6 at least contacting with the side faces 3a and 3b of the oil ring groove 3 are provided with a DLC coating film 14 or a resin coating film consisting of polyamide-imide or polyimide containing at least one of the molybdenum disulfide, graphite, and polytetrafluoroethylene.
