PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developing device which rapidly and uniformly develops a heat developable photosensitive material, is free of contamination of a heat drum within the heat developing device for a long period of time and imparts high-grade image quality to the heat developable photosensitive material subjected to heat development as well without transfer of stains thereto. SOLUTION: The heat developing device performs the heat development processing of the heat developable photosensitive material having a photosensitive layer containing a photosensitive silver halide, organic silver salt and reducing agent and a photosensitive layer protective layer for protecting the photosensitive layer on at least one surface of a base. The outermost surface layer of the heat drum within the heat developing device is silicone rubber which is subjected to water repellent finishing in the presence of a water repellent finishing agent.
