PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display whose display quality and productivity can be enhanced. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal layer 6 is provided in a housing space 13 interposed between a first substrate 3 and a second substrate 4 and externally surrounded by a plurality of partition parts of a partition 7 having water impermeability. A sealing material 5 is provided between an inside partition part 7a having insolubility to a liquid crystal and an outside partition part 7b having gas impermeability. The inside partition part 7a and the outside partition part 7b are formed by using a negative photosensitive resin and the heights of the inside partition part 7a and the outside partition part 7b are equal to the cell gap. The states of the sealing material 5 and the liquid crystal layer 6 are kept ideal by providing the sealing material 5 between the inside partition part 7a and the outside partition part 7b and the display quality and productivity of the liquid crystal display 1 can be enhanced by forming the sealing material 5 with good accuracy.
