PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology wherein lubricating oil is surely fed to a valve arm shaft without installing a pipe, and also to provide a mounting structure of a high-pressure fuel pipe for a fuel injection valve with an excellent maintainability. SOLUTION: In this upper structure of an engine, a bonnet 2 covering the upper part of a cylinder head 12 is disposed on the cylinder head 12. A lubricating oil passage is formed in a spacer 4 installed between the cylinder head 12 and the bonnet 2. Also the high-pressure fuel pipe 62 is passed, through a seal 64, through the spacer 4 installed between the cylinder head 12 and the bonnet 2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
