PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a stimulable phosphor sheet to be taken out from a cassette while being always held at the same position and to attain miniaturization of an apparatus and cost reduction in a method and the apparatus for taking out the stimulable phosphor sheet from the cassette loaded in a radiation image reader and feeding the stimulable phosphor sheet in the apparatus. SOLUTION: The cassette 10 is loaded in the apparatus with inclination of a prescribed angle in a width direction toward a perpendicular direction while being erected in a perpendicular direction toward a horizontal surface and being held in a state where an opening is located in a downward direction. A lower end 12a of the stimulable phosphor sheet 12 dropped by gravity from the cassette 10 is supported by a supporting member 34a, lower end vicinity of a side edge 12b of an inclined direction side among both side edges of the sheet is brought into contact with a lower end of an inside face 10a of the cassette 10 and an upper end of another side edge 12c of the stimulable phosphor sheet 12 is brought into contact with an inside face 10b of the cassette 10 to position and hold the stimulable phosphor sheet 12.
