PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-shielding agent effectively shielding unnecessary light radiated from an image-displaying apparatus in a front face member for the image-displaying apparatus, and having excellent solubility in an organic solvent, light resistance and environmental resistance, and to provide its application. SOLUTION: The light-shielding agent contains a cyanine dye having an anion of a benzenedithiol metal complex as a counter ion.
