<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tandem color image forming apparatus which facilitates the life management of a replaceable photoreceptor unit and an image forming unit and which improves reliability in calculation for certifying the number of sheets to be printed of the image forming apparatus itself and calculation of the life of the image forming unit. <P>SOLUTION: When replacing a main body control substrate 40, as the number of sheets to be printed of image forming units 18, 30, etc., after the replacing, a difference between a counted value obtained by reading a plurality of equal counted values counted up every printing of the total number of sheets to be printed N2 of a device body stored in respective attached memories 16 as a correct value and a fixed value obtained by reading a plurality of equal counted values of the total numbers of sheets to be printed N3 to N7 of the device body in replacing the image forming unit, etc., as correct values is written in the main body memory 44 of a new main body control substrate 40.
