<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a method of storing printing information, preventing the overwriting of the printing information previously memorized in the 2nd recording medium, when the printing information stored in the 1st recording medium is saved in the 2nd recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: The printer 1 is equipped with an ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) 33, and the ASIC 33 has a directory generating part 37 and a saving execution part 38. When a memory card 14 is inserted in a slot 15a and the saving in the external recording device 36 is started, a directory generating part 37 generates a discriminating directory directly under a root directory. After generating the discriminating directory, the saving execution part 38 forms a directory structure where the subdirectory of the memory card 14 is located in the low rank layer of the discriminating directory, and, with the directory structure, saves the image data of the memory card 14 in the external recording device 36. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
