PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a body detector that can detect a body of a detecting object without depending on image analysis, even when another body exists in the vicinity of the body of the detecting object. SOLUTION: This body detector has a light emitting element, two photo detectors, and a control circuit 4. A CPU 45 outputs an Hex valueαto a D/A converter 50 to partition a block for prohibiting detection of the body as a non-detecting area. An analogue voltage generated in the D/A converter 50 is input to a reverse phase input terminal of an amplifier 42. Output voltages from the photo detectors are amplified by an amplifier 41 and the amplifier 42 to be input into a normal phase input terminal and a reverse phase input terminal of a differential amplifier 43 respectively, and the body existing in an area other than the non-detecting area is detected thereby.
