beta-POLYPEPTIDE DERIVATIVE, ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD AND ITS MOLDED PRODUCT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroconductor having excellent molding properties. SOLUTION: Theβ-polypeptide derivative comprises aβ-polypeptide as the main chain and has a substituent group bearing an electroconductive group as a side chain in the main chain with the substitution degree of substantially 100%. As theβ-polypeptide derivative forms a 4/1-helix structure where four residual groups constitute one revolution and side chains bearing the electroconductive groups stand in the same plane, charge transfer between side chains progresses smoothly to permit exhibition of excellent electroconductivity. Moreover, theβ-polypeptide derivative does not contain a conjugated structure in the main chain unlike a polyacetylene and the like, and therefore it permits easy molding processing.
