PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication controller equipped with a plurality of modules capable of updating the IPL of each module to be updated, and shortening the stop time of the controller required for updating the IPL. SOLUTION: This communication controller is provided with a main module 10 having a rewritable FROM 13 for recording IPL and a CPU 11 for rewriting the IPL into new IPL to be transmitted from a host device 2 and a plurality of sub-modules 20 having a rewritable FROM 23 for recording IPL and a CPU 21 for rewriting the IPL into new IPL to be transmitted from the main module 10, and the CPU 11 of the main module 10 resets the main module 10 itself which has rewritten IPL into new IPL, and transmits the new IPL to the sub- module 20 which needs to update IPL, and resets the sub-module 20.
