PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a snow melting system capable of stably operating a heat pump with high energy efficiency. SOLUTION: This snow melting system comprises the heat pump 2 applying the electric power E generated by a generating means 1 to heat a heat medium L2 for heat radiation, an exhaust heat recovering means K for recovering the exhaust heat Qa of the generating means 1 to heat the heat medium L2 for heat radiation by the recovered exhaust heat Qa, and a series heat medium circulating passage 9 for allowing the heat medium for heat radiation L2 to successively circulate a radiator for snow melting 3, the heat pump 2 and the exhaust heat recovering means K in series. An operation control means 15 has a constitution to perform the preparatory operation for heating the circulated heat medium L2 of the series heat medium circulating passage 9 by the exhaust heat recovering means K in a condition that the operation of the heat pump 2 is stopped in starting the equipment, and then to start the operation of the heat pump 2 to heat the circulated heat medium L2 of the series heat medium circulating passage 9 by both of the heat pump 2 and the exhaust heat recovering means K.
