PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high chromium ferritic heat resistant steel which has heat resistance, oxidation resistance and high toughness, and of which the deterioration in strength can be suppressed even in use over a long period of time at high temperatures under high pressures. SOLUTION: The ferritic steel contains≥13 wt.% Cr, has a structure in which a ferritic phase covers≥70 vol.%, and is subjected to precipitation strengthening by one or more kinds selected from intermetallic compounds, carbides and nitrides.
