PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can remove a foreign substance having entered a gap between the tip of a cleaning blade and the surface of an intermediate transfer belt, while preventing damage to a transfer roller, an image carrier, and the intermediate transfer belt.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 10 comprises: a driving roller 72, a driven roller 73, and back-up rollers 75 and 76 that cause an intermediate transfer belt 71 to travel; a primary transfer roller 45 that holds the intermediate transfer belt 71 with a photoreceptor drum 41; a blade 491 that is in contact with the surface of the intermediate transfer belt; a drive mechanism 400 that causes the primary transfer roller to be in contact with/separated from the intermediate transfer belt to change the attitudes of the rollers 75 and 76; and a travel control part 701 that executes travel processing of controlling the drive mechanism to cause the primary transfer roller to be separated from the intermediate transfer belt and to change the attitudes of the rollers 75 and 76 to attitudes different from the attitudes during execution of image forming processing, so as to cause the intermediate transfer belt to travel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
