PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate and an image display device having the same.SOLUTION: A polarizing plate of the present invention has a protective layer provided on at least one surface of a polarizer and an adhesive layer formed on an outer surface of the protective layer. A load (X) that causes rupture of the polarizing plate when the load is applied in a TD direction after fixing a first vertex of the polarizing plate and flipping and fixing a second vertex connected to a side extending from the first vertex in the TD direction of the polarizer, and adhesive strength (Y) of the adhesive layer satisfy a specific conditional expression, making the polarizing plate superior in terms of reworkability.
