Elastomeric coated articles and method of manufacture

An electrostatic spray process for forming electrostatic printing blankets and fuser rolls including a substantially rigid substrate with a compressible layer of elastomer with resin microspheres dispersed therein disposed theron and an outer printing or fusing surface is disclosed. Electrostatic spraying of the compressible layer utilizes a polar solvent including at least 50 per cent by weight of high molecular weight ketone solvent leaving at least six carbon atom. Methyl amyl ketone and methyl isobutyl ketone are disclosed to avoid mechanical and chemical damage to the resin microballoons.
