<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for reduction of glucose consumption and/or lactate production during cultivation of animal cells. <P>SOLUTION: This method for reduction of glucose consumption and/or lactate production during cultivation of animal cells is characterized in that cultivation is performed in the presence of a bi- or tri-carbonic acid or a salt thereof at a concentration of about 1 to 50 mmol/L, whereby, in the case where the di- or tri-carbonic acid is citric acid or citrate, the amount of the citric acid or citrate is not bound with iron or another transition metal ion in a chelate complex. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
