An uneven nonwoven fabric (1) on which natural, irregular uneven creases capable of being individualized are developed. A nonwoven fabric is provided in which carded webs, formed of short fibers having a thickness irregularity U% of at least ±3% measured with a Uster irregularity tester and having a boiling water shrinkage of 5-15%, are interlaced, and which has a weight per unit area (MITSUKE) of 20-200 g/m2 and an apparent density of 0.15-0.45 g/m3; and the nonwoven fabric is heat-treated with hot water of about 100°C without being substantially restricted to thereby develop uneven creases (2a, 2b). |
