<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for biologically restoring polluted soil or polluted underground water by organic halogen compounds, which can re-create a restoring effectiveness for polluted sites all over the country and realize the restoration at a low cost, and to provide an additive applied thereto. <P>SOLUTION: Electron donors such as a yeast extract, humic acid, and organic waste from a food plant, a brewery, a sugar plant or the like are injected into the soil or the underground water from an injecting well dug in a polluted area; a native microorganism group consumes oxygen in the soil and the underground water by using the injected electron donors to enable the soil and the underground water of the restoring objective area to be in an anaerobic atmosphere; and the native anaerobic microorganisms in the generated anaerobic atmosphere decompose the organic halogen compounds of electron acceptors by reductive dehalogenation using the injected electron donors finally into inorganic halogen salts. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
