PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove dirt from a transparent plate disposed in front of an optical fixing unit. SOLUTION: The color thermal printer 1 is provided with an optical fixing unit 10 provided with an yellow fixing lamp 11 and a magenta fixing lamp 12. A transparent plate 15 is disposed in front of the optical fixing unit 10 to form the carrying passage 14 of a thermal recording sheet 7. A photocatalytic layer of titanium oxide is provided on the surface of the transparent plate 15. Even if the thermal recording sheet 7 touches the surface of the transparent plate 15 and organic dirt adheres thereto, it is subjected to photodecomposition by UV-rays of the magenta fixing lamp 12.
