<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arteriosclerosis examination instrument which can diagnose arteriosclerosis at a higher accuracy by using an amplitude gain index AI for the evaluation of arteriosclerosis. <P>SOLUTION: The amplitude gain index AIE as a parameter for the evaluation of arteriosclerosis is calculated based on the pulse wave propagation velocity PWV (information on pulse wave propagation velocity), blood pressures BP (SYS), heart rates HR, the preejection period PEP and the ejection time ET by a parameter calculation means 100 for the evaluation of arteriosclerosis from an expression (2) previously stored. The amplitude gain index AIE thus calculated is highly reliable and accurately reflects the condition of circulatory organs as it is based on the pulse wave propagation velocity PWV and the blood pressure value BP (SYS) corresponding to the elasticity of blood vessels of living bodies, heart rates HP (pulse rate) corresponding to autonomic nerves of living bodies and the preejection period PEP and the ejection time ET corresponding to functions of hearts (beating) of living bodies. This achieves accurate detection of the arteriosclerosis of the living bodies based on them, thereby enhancing the accuracy of diagnosis. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
