SUBSTRATE FOR INK JET AND INK JET RECORDING MEDIUM USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ink jet recording paper which has a desired print density and ink absorbing properties even when the coating weight is small, and a substrate for ink jet which is suitable for the paper.

SOLUTION: The substrate for ink jet is constituted mainly of wood pulp and a loading material. When the droplet absorbing capacity of the coated-side surface of the ink receiving layer is denoted by A and that of the inside of the substrate by B and when these droplet absorbing capacities are measured with a liquid having a surface tension of 35 dyn/cm, B/A is 0-25(%) and B is 50 seconds or below. An ink jet recording medium of this invention is obtained by providing the ink receiving layer on the substrate.
