PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability and productivity in a method and a device for making holes for making holes at marked positions everytime a workpiece piece is moved manually or mechanically so that the mark is arrested by a monitor. SOLUTION: The center, etc., of the mark E of a hole making means 6 are detected only by moving the workpiece W so that the mark E given to the workpiece W is arrested by the monitor and the centering quantity of the mark E is calculated, and the workpiece W or the hole making means 6 is moved for correction by the centering quantity. After that, a hole is made automatically at the mark E centered by the hole making means 6. Workability and productivity are thus improved substantially. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
