PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent any breakage of a claw of a lock lever to constitute a locking device by the impact applied to an upper rail via a seat in the collision of a vehicle in a seat slide device which fixes the upper and lower rails in the locking device by slidably fitting the upper rail in the longitudinal direction to the lower rail fixed to a floor of a vehicle. SOLUTION: A plurality of locking holes (19, 20 and 21) are formed in a flange part (8) of the lower rail (2), and a claw of a lock lever (15) is freely inserted in either of the locking holes (19, 20 and 21). Energy absorption holes (22, 23 and 24) are formed adjacent to the locking holes (19, 20 and 21). When a large impact is applied to a seat (5), the claw (16) breaks a wall part between the locking holes (19, 20 and 21) and the energy absorption holes (22, 23 and 24), the claw (16) is inserted in the energy absorption holes (22, 23 and 24), and breaks the wall parts of the energy absorption holes to absorb the impact energy.
