<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of processing polished rice which improves whiteness and produces luster of high intensity and an apparatus for the same. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus has moisture adding means 7 for softening the surface of the polished rice by adding moisture thereto, mixing and agitating means 8 for mixing a starchy granular material heated to ≥60°C with the polished rice softened by the moisture adding means 7, agitating the mixture and removing the bran remaining on the rice grain surface of the polished rice by adsorbing the bran to the starchy granular material, and separating and surface smoothing means 9 for separating the polished rice and starchy granular material mixed by the mixing and agitating means 8 and smoothing the finely rugged surfaces of the rice grains. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
