PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flocculant capable of being manufactured in a short manufacturing time by a simplified manufacturing process, excellent in stability and working safety, having a high sedimentation speed because a floc forming speed is high and a final arriving floc particle size is large and capable of separating a supernatant liquid and sludge in a short time. SOLUTION: The inorganic flocculant for water treatment comprises an aqueous alkali silicate solution (1), characterized in that (A) a molar ratio (SiO<SB>2</SB>/A<SB>2</SB>O) (A: alkali metal) of silicon and alkali is 4-30 and (B) the concentration of silicon in terms of an oxide (SiO<SB>2</SB>concentration) is 6.8-30 wt.%, and a solution (2) containing iron or titanium ions. Further, if necessary, after or before the inorganic flocculant for water treatment is added, at least one of swellable clay minerals, phosphorus compounds and cement is used. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
