摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a form which keeps a fiber projection caused in a frame inner edge part from touching a polymer electrolyte membrane even with a structure in which a gas diffusion layer is put over a frame.SOLUTION: A solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell comprises a stack of single cell modules 9. In each single cell module, each gas diffusion layer 7 has, in a face opposing a membrane catalyst layer fame assembly 5, first grooves 8 substantially in parallel with an inner edge of a frame 4; the gas diffusion layer is bent at a part narrowed by the first groove 8; and a piece of fiber 10 projected from a bent part owing to the bending is put in a space formed by the first groove 8, so the fiber 10 does not abut against a polymer electrolyte membrane 1. The structure in which the single cell modules are stacked allows a piece of fiber projected from a bent part owing to the bending to be enclosed in the space formed by the first groove. Accordingly, the piece of fiber does not contact with the polymer electrolyte membrane and does not stick into the polymer electrolyte membrane and thus, the increase in gas cross leak is not caused. Therefore, it is possible to provide a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell of which the initial performance and durability performance can be ensured.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
