PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a speed in a copying processing between a local file server and a remote file server. SOLUTION: In this storage system comprising the local file server and the remote file server, a storage unit of the local file server and that of the remote file server are connected to each other by means of a communication line, and respectively provided with a remote copying means, a control unit of at least the local file server comprises a remote copy control means for controlling the remote copying means, the remote copy control means transmits the data transfer command for transferring the specific data stored in the storage unit of the local file server to a remote file server side, to the remote copying means of the storage unit, the remote copying means receiving the data transfer command reads out the data from the storage unit, and transmits the same to the remote copying means of the remote file server through the communication line, and the remote copying means of the remote file server stores the received data in the storage unit of the remote file server.
