<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a faster DEMUX device by eliminating the limit by an electrical component. <P>SOLUTION: A received input optical signal is inputted to an optical gate at which transmission or quenching is controlled by an optical gate signal, and the optical gate signal synchronizing with 1/n frequency of a clock signal obtained from an incident optical signal is used to reduce data to 1/n frequency.
