<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drive an engine on board with excellent driving efficiency and simultaneously charge an electric storage means when the charge amount of the electric storage means is less than a threshold value. <P>SOLUTION: The engine selects a stoichiometric condition or a lean condition by changing the air fuel ratio of mixed gas of fuel to be supplied to a combustion engine and air in accordance with a detected value detected by a running load detecting means. In the selected stoichiometric condition or the lean condition, the engine outputs a torque maintaining a range with high efficient characteristics of the combustion engine. When the charging amount detected by a sensor is less than the threshold value the combustion engine is run in the stoichiometric condition and electric power generated by the motor is charged to the electric storage means by using the torque output from the combustion engine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
