<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle navigation system by which a present position of a vehicle can be calculated with high accuracy by precisely correcting a cumulative error at a time when the present position is calculated by a self-contained navigation operation. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle navigation system is provided with a map-data storage means; a beacon-signal reception means; a beacon-distance calculation means used to calculate a distance between two points in such a way that beacon positional information received by the beacon-signal reception means is collated with map data in the map-data storage means; a pulse output means used to output prescribed pulses on the basis of a rotation of a wheel; a pulse- distance calculation means used to calculate a distance between the two points on the basis of the pulse output means; a distance-correction-coefficient calculation means used to calculate a distance correction coefficient on the basis of the distance by the beacon-distance calculation means and on the basis of the distance by the pulse-distance calculation means; and a running-distance correction means used to calculate a running distance of the vehicle by using the calculated distance correction coefficient. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
