<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out recognition even when the component size changes suddenly without judging its recognition abnormal. <P>SOLUTION: Every time an electronic component is imaged by a recognition camera 16 and subjected to image processing by a recognizing section 33, the size of the electronic component is calculated by a CPU 20, and size checking is started so that whether the calculated size is in an allowable value range with reference to a learned value or not is judged by the CPU 20. If it is in the allowable value range, a flowchart for calculating the learned value is entered, and the size check is carried out with reference to constantly updated learned value, and if the calculated size is in the allowable value range with reference to the learned value, the flowchart for calculating the learned value is entered, and the recognition is judged normal.
