<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus realizing the appropriate transfer of a toner image regardless of the width dimension of recording material and regardless of the resistance variance of a recording material carrier or an intermediate transfer body. <P>SOLUTION: A transfer current is made high according to paper size and the grinding time of a transfer belt.
