PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a narrow-pitch electric connector capable of securing a sufficient insulation distance between terminals while reducing the pitch. SOLUTION: Recessed parts 31b and projecting parts 31a are formed on both side faces 1a and 1b of an elongated housing of a plug 1 of this narrow- pitch electric connector having the plug and a socket fittable and connectable to it, and contacts 21 and 22 are housed in the projecting parts and the recessed parts, respectively. In an elongated housing of the socket, recessed parts and projecting parts are formed on a fitting wall of a housing opening for housing the plug 1, and contacts are inserted into the projecting parts and the recessed parts, respectively. The insulation distance between the contacts can be secured by the steps formed by the recessed part and the projecting part of the plug or the socket, so that the narrow-pitch connector is realized.
