PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for securing the fiber channel drive access in a partitioned data library. SOLUTION: This data library partitioning system comprises a plurality of storage slot elements adapted to store a data storage media, wherein one set of storage slot elements is assigned to one partition, and a plurality of data transfer elements that are adapted to receive the data storage media and transfer data to and from the media, wherein each of one set of data transfer elements is assigned to one of partitions, the data transfer element of each partition hosts a logical element designation of a virtual controller, the virtual controller restricts the movement of the data storage media to between the set of the storage slot elements and the set of the data transfer elements.
