<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image defect or jamming from occurring because transfer material floats from a carrying reference surface after the transfer material to which a toner image has been transferred is separated from the surface of a photoreceptor drum. <P>SOLUTION: A toner image is formed on the photoreceptor drum 10 and transferred to the transfer material P by a transfer electrifier. By applying a current to a separation electrifier 21, the transfer material P to which the toner image has been transferred is separated from the surface of the drum 10. The floating amount of the separated transfer material P from the carrying reference surface H is detected by a reflection type optical sensor 17. When the floating amount is not normal (for example, it is larger than 1 mm being a reference value), the current applied to the electrifier 21 is changed to make the floating amount normal in the case of separating the transfer material P from the drum 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
